Orchard Trail Bernedoodles Adoption Contract

Health & Genetic Guarantee & Purchase Agreement

The sellers  (Orchard Trail Bernedoodles) certify that the puppy/dog you purchase is in sound health (or has disclosed any concerns if applicable) at the time of the sale to the best of our knowledge and has been given all vaccinations and wormings stated on the vaccination record provided to the buyer(s). We do our best to provide the new owner with a healthy puppy/dog. The buyer(s) will be responsible for further vaccinations and boosters.

We administer all vaccinations and worming at the appropriate times:  Worming on the 2nd, , 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th weeks since birth, and the following vaccinations:  Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus.

We guarantee against viral diseases up to seven days after the puppy/dog is taken home.  The puppy/dog must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within seven days of receipt of puppy/dog for the health of the puppy.  If he/she finds abnormal results in the exam (other than any known to new owner and disclosed at the time of sale), then the breeder must be called immediately and copies of the licensed veterinarian report supplied to us.  After receipt of the report, we may offer a reimbursement or solution based on the the findings.

The following are NOT covered by this guarantee: Reimbursement for veterinary expenses, reimbursement for air or ground transport or return, external parasites, such as ticks, fleas, or ear mites, internal parasites, such as intestinal worms, or their effects (almost every puppy/dog has some sort of intestinal worms; although we have wormed your puppy/dog regularly, it only takes a few days for him/her to pick up another “batch”). That is just a part of puppy/doghood, which is why a regular worming schedule is recommended.  In case of a puppy/dog's death within the seven day period, a necropsy must be arranged and paid for by the New Owner, and those findings must be submitted to the Breeder before any exchange will be made.  All guarantees are only applicable to the original buyer.

We will also guarantee the puppy/dog up to, and no more than one year from purchase date against major genetic defects that affect the liver, kidneys, lungs, etc.  If a licensed veterinarian determines that the puppy/dog has a serious genetic illness, we must be notified and proper documentation from the veterinarian must be provided to us.  After receipt of the report and its review, the new owner will have the option to bring the puppy/dog back in exchange for another puppy/dog of equal or lesser value, or a reimbursement (in part or in full) will be provided at our discretion.  We our not responsible for any veterinarian bills you incur with your new puppy/dog.

We do not assume responsibility for the puppy/dog after leaving our premises for any medical expense, death, allergies, behavior issues, training issues and/or changes in coat, color or conformation.  We also do not guarantee against the following as the puppy/dog can acquire these after pickup/travel:  Giardia Parasites, Coccidia, Colds/Upper Respiratory Infections and other minor illnesses.

We require that your puppy/dog be spayed or neutered unless specific arrangements have been made for breeding. It is your ultimate responsibility to take good care of your puppy/dog and provide adequate food, water, and veterinary care. Please be aware that as a new puppy/dog owner, you share in the responsibility to help prevent hip dysplasia, as it has been proven to be part hereditary and increasingly environmental. This puppy/dog has been bred based on sound stock. Through proper diet you can play an important role in helping your puppy/dog grow into a healthy adult.

Elbows and Hip Dysplasia's are only warrantied in the case that a surgery is required and diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals).

Hernias, umbilical or inguinal, are occasionally present in puppies and will be outgrown. If surgery is required, it can usually be completed during the spay/neuter operation.

We would love for you to come visit your new puppy/dog's parents before you take home your new best friend. We are happy to show you where the dogs are raised.
